All candidates for GATE 2004 will appear in a single paper of 3 hours duration and of 150 marks. GATE 2004 will have the following papers :

Candidates appearing in XE or XL papers are required to answer THREE sections one compulsory (as mentioned above) and two others of candidate's choice out of the sections mentioned against the respective papers. Candidates qualified in XE or XL paper will be further examined by the admitting Institute to assess their suitability for a particular programme .
