Position 1: The IIM-Ahmedabad (Top placement salary Rs.6 lakh)
retained its first slot. Findings indicate that the institute is reticent from increasing competition. It is putting all efforts to retain its position at top. Institute has strong force of faculties and adequate infrastructure.
The institute management has many big plans to keep the institute above the competition such as doubling the seats, innovative MBA programmes for mid career executive, investment plan for expanding facilities in the campus.
Position 2: The IIM-Lucknow (Top placement salary Rs.4 lakh) The IIM-Lucknow (Top placement salary Rs.4 lakh)
barely missed by few points to reach the top position. The IIM has achieved this despite of locational disadvantage and uncertain growth in initial years. This could be achieved through heavy investments in infrastructure, international faculty, staff development and management development programme for industry.
The management has many ambitious plans to achieve the top position i.e. to overcome locational disadvantage, the institute is opening up a branch at Noida near Delhi which leads to direct competition with Faculty of Management Studies and Management Development School and substantial investment in the campus to increase the facilities.
Position 3: IIM – Bangalore (Top placement salary Rs. 10 lakh)
achieved third slot in the top 10. It is a boost to the south based management school. This is achieved because of tremendous progress in curriculum development and introduction of new courses. The institute is also launching several programmes on public policy, entrepreneurship and IT to, achieve further results.
Position 4: IIM Calcutta (Top placement salary Rs. 10.1 lakh)
has suffered a setback by achieving 4th slot in the list. It’s No.2 position is overtaken by IIM Lucknow. This is because of poor infrastructure, slower growth in income. But at the same time faculty development was extremely well and it still remains leader in use of computer in Campus.
It requires little effort to regain its old position. The Institute is working on many innovative Programmes to combat the problems faced by the institute.
Position 5: Management Development Institute (MDI):
(Top placement salary Rs. 4.15 lakh)
Gurgaon Haryana has achieved a fifth position in the list. The Institute has a tremendous location advantage. It is well connected and home to several large company’s. The institute is expected to move up in top 10 ranking through its excellent infrastructure, adequate faculty and good industry interface.
Position 6: Faculty of Management Studies (FMS)
(Top placement salary Rs. 8.16 lakh)
has lost its old position and achieved 6th position in the list. This is because; the traditional leader is bounded by bureaucracy with regard to change in areas of curriculum and investment. The institute is undertaking many innovative plans to achieve the progress.
Position 7: XLRI – Jamshedpur (Top placement salary Rs. 10.54 lakh)
has achieved 7th position in the list setting aside the industrial gloom due to uncertainties over the creation of new Jharkhand State. The institute is expected to grow more strong and move in the new direction. The institute is concentrating more on infrastructure development.
Position 8: Jamnalal Bajaj (Top placement salary Rs. 20 lakh)
is ranked 8th in the list. The Mumbai leader is concentrating on to implement brand new curriculum. The institute has recorded the top placement salary of Rs. 20 lakh last summer.
Position 9: SP Jain Mumbai (Top placement salary Rs. 7.2 lakh)
is ranked 9th position in the list. It has been growing consistently and very sensitive to the changes in and around the institute. The institute is paying attention on development of academics, industry interface, infrastructure and Faculty development.
Position10: XIMB, Bhubaneshwar (Top placement salary Rs. 5.3 lakh) XIMB, Bhubaneshwar (Top placement salary Rs. 5.3 lakh)
has joined the list of top 10 for the first time. It is one of the interesting development in the survey findings. The institute has started quite slow in terms of growth but providing right ambience for education, adequate faculty for teaching, good infrastructure could match the best in the business. The Institute is concentrating on how to exploit good industry interface. |
